Kolkata is a city filled with a lot of character. We had been there last year and this was our second time in the city of joy. Colonial architecture, art galleries, and cultural festivals are synonymous with the city and it always made me want to go back to Kolkata again. Riddhi and her beau Kunal from California were getting engaged in her hometown, Kolkata where they had a 3-day long engagement celebration for her family in India who wouldn’t make it to her wedding in the US.
The celebrations started with the Mata Ki Chowki, a prayer to invite the Goddess for blessings during the festivities. I am extremely fond of the traditional garad saree which the Bengalis wear during the Durga Puja, which was the dress code for this event and the bride in her outfit looked absolutely beautiful.
The next day we traveled to Victoria Memorial and Princep Ghat to take a few pictures of the couple. We found a boat around the banks and took one for a ride for pictures from under the bridge. In the evening, the couple exchanged rings and celebrated a musical night with the band playing the songs of the 90s.
Celebrations didn’t end yet, as we are ready to head on the boat party sailing on the waters of Hooghly. The cocktail party kicked off with a few speeches, post which there were games for the couple and family. Thereafter, the dance floor was open for all when the DJ played some grooving songs.
The most spectacular view was when the boat passed under the Howrah bridge which was lit up at night. The cherry on the cake was an array of fireworks while the boat was returning back. I am sure you want to have a look at this dazzling boat party and engagement, and I won’t hold you back!
By the way, did I mention that we shot Riddhi’s twin Siddhi’s Pre Wedding Shoot a couple of years back in Jaipur?
