We had the privilege of shooting Nishit & Payal – who is from Ahmedabad and reside in Jersey City. They planned their pre-wedding shoot in the iconic places of New York City and Jersey City – namely Liberty State Park, Brooklyn Bridge, and Central Park in Manhattan – and flew us there, especially for the shoot.

Nishit and Payal have been together for the last 7 years, graduating from the same college and working in the ‘Big Apple’. Nishit, a photographer himself, understood the nuances of the effort it takes for executing the shoot. He helped us mark the exact locations for the shoot and figured out the time required to travel from one location to another as it is quite busy all throughout the year in NYC. I had been in touch with Payal regarding which wardrobe would suit Nishit and herself during the shoot.

The first stop was the afternoon shoot at Liberty State Park in Jersey City. The state park has a beautiful memorial built for the 9/11 victims and the entire dazzling New York skyline can be visible from there.

Post that, we were headed for a night shoot at the Brooklyn Bridge. We started shooting at Dumbo (which means Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) and then moved to the Brooklyn bridge. We got some nice silhouettes and some couple portraits by lighting them in the dark with the beautiful Manhattan skyline as their backdrop. We had some great New York-style pizzas & gelatos post the shoot!

The next day, we started for Central Park & took portraits in the Bethesda Terrace area and at the Bow Bridge. We also went into the subway to click the picture of a train that Payal rides every day to work! We had a great time shooting this lovely Gujarati couple and we can’t wait to shoot their wedding in Ahmedabad in December 2015.
